It’s been driving me crazy for a few years, but we finally found the time to get it properly-ish taken care of and now it’s just pretty much the apple of my eye!I’m pretty sure it was never meant to be a dining room and probably never has been one in the history of this house, but a “real” dining room is something that I’ve wanted for a long time.. And.my beloved 150 year old family dining room furniture deserves a happy home, so here’s how we made that happen, in grey and white so it could play nicely with the living room which is right off of it!.
First, let’s start with some “before” pictures from before we moved in, when we were having the house inspected, and some from this first few months we were here too.I searched through my old laptop and here are some of the pictures I found.. That paint color was really quite something.
Kind of a really soft aqua accented by lots of scuff marks.
You can’t really see, but it wasn’t really much of a dining room at all for the previous owners.Add a bit of water or milk (if desired) to thin the soup out to a consistency that looks good to you!.
Now, this soup is delicious as-is, but I find that the key to getting my family to actually eat it is all in how I dress it up.Doesn’t that look like a party in a bowl?
They have no idea that they’re getting several servings of veggies here.I like to add things like sour cream, shredded cheese, bacon bits, and sliced green onions to the top, but really there are so many different ways you can mix this up..
